The Government Polytechnic College, Korukkai, at Thiruthuraipoondi of Thiruvarur district, was founded in the year 2010, as per a G.O.
The college is located at the village of Korukkai, which is 7 kms from Thiruthuraipoondi and 35kms from Thiruvarur.
In the opening academic year of 2010-2011, 290 students were admitted in the 5 departments of Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics and Computer Science. In the year 2011-2012 there were 265 students and 256 in the year 2012-2013.
Showing an increase in the intake, during the year 2013-2014, 270 students were admitted which rose to 284 in the year subsequent year 2014-2015.
During the current academic year of 2016-2017, there are 276 students who are being groomed as future engineers.
